To keep your coffee fresh at home, we recommend the following.
|
In a cup of Peet’s, quality is inseparable from freshness. Coffee fresh from the roaster exhibits flavors and aromas that exist only briefly. Whether you buy our coffee from a Peet’s store, a grocery store, or our website, we take great measures to ensure that the coffee is the freshest and most flavorful it can be.
Peet’s commitment to freshness:
We are extraordinarily selective. We only buy the highest quality green beans from around the world.
We still roast by hand. Our coffee is roasted in small batches, to a signature deep-roast taste profile, the same way Alfred Peet did starting in 1966.
We roast to order. We roast only enough to fill each day’s orders, so our coffee is always extremely fresh. In addition, 100 percent of our beans are roasted in the nation’s first coffee roasting facility to achieve LEED® Gold Certification for sustainable green design.
We ship our coffees just after roasting. We are committed to delivering coffee to our customers under the strictest freshness standards, because roasted coffee is perishable and peak flavor will diminish over time.
We guarantee freshness. No matter how you order your Peet’s, we promise that your coffee will be delivered fresh.
To ensure a freshly brewed cup of Peet’s coffee, follow these recommendations:
Grind coffee yourself just before brewing.. The coffee bean acts as its own container, holding in flavor and aromatic compounds. Once the beans are ground, aromatics are released. If brewing does not happen right away, the aromatic complexities will begin to dissipate.
Store your coffee in an airtight container. Then place it in a cool, dry, dark place to protect it against the staling effects of heat, light, and moisture. Refrigerating or freezing will slow this process, but won’t stop it.
