Coffee Kids, Las Hermanas, and Peet's
 Coffee Kids, an NGO formed 20 years ago, is dedicated to improving the lives of children in coffee growing communities. Peets has been a major donor since its inception.
Soppexcca, the umbrella cooperative for Las Hermanas, had always wanted to emphasise work with children, since they see their progeny as the hope for the future. The youth and children’s groups are integrated in the extension training services of the cooperative, particularly in the fields of environmentalism and gender equality education.
Moreover, each member farmer signs an agreement in joining the cooperative undertaking to school their children. The cooperative is intent on breaking the perception amongst farmers that just because they are farmers, they should lack education. An educated farmer, the cooperative says, understands better quality hence education is what guarantees sustainability.
 The cooperative itself has built three community schools which are now being administered by the Ministry of Education. Coffee Kids sponsored the materials needed to keep the children actively engaged in the environmental workshops. The cooperative’s initiative on this programme is strengthened and coordinated through Coffee Kids.
